A library, a component, an external system…sometimes there is one thing that was a great addition to your project, but now it has become a burden. You know that it works, but at what cost?
This presentation is about the experience of dealing with those legacy pieces that are in a project. Using a real example with some NodeJS monoliths, I will discuss why we developed them in the first place, and how they became a pain point as the project started growing and scaling in production. After accepting the fact that we needed a change, we will show you how we started getting greater results through PoCs with Golang, which led us to conclude that sometimes you need to take two steps back in order to move five steps forward!
