In 2016, Veritas Automata’s client successfully transitioned from a traditional co-located data center to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to reduce operational costs and increase efficiency. The move was driven by the need for scalability, cost-effectiveness, and the client’s request for a hosting transfer. The project aimed to build a scalable, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure by shifting from proprietary platforms to AWS, enhancing disaster recovery and supporting a significantly higher capacity.
The migration strategy involved detailed planning, technology analysis, and the adoption of RedHat Products over IBM Application Servers, alongside automation improvements and Oracle Database implementation to Amazon RDS. A collaborative team led by Benjamin Savage and Shenghe Zhan executed the migration, emphasizing middleware cost reduction, development operations automation, and improved infrastructure operations support.
Key successes included minimal downtime, significant cost savings, and increased development and deployment efficiency. The experience underscored the importance of thorough planning, technical adaptability, and teamwork. Future focuses include continuous AWS optimization, further automation, and monitoring emerging technologies, positioning Veritas Automata for future enhancements and customer needs.
